This summer in the absence of regional tournaments, except the O65, we are holding a special South Women’s Masters Festival on the 25 July at Basingstoke HC 13:00-17:00. Hockey 13:00-16:00 followed by tea outside all together. This will be a fun festival and a celebration of masters hockey in our Region. From this September the structure of hockey in England moves from five Regions to eight Areas. So this is a chance to say goodbye to the South which has been running since 1890.

The festival will be open to all women’s masters players who are 34 years or older by 31 Dec 2021. The entry has now closed.

Club Cups

England Hockey run Club Cup and Plate events the entries are usually required by mid September. Events run at Over 40, 50 and 60 for the mens and Over 35 and 45 for women. Club Leagues

Leagues for men's and women's masters teams run weekly for the men on Saturdays and monthly for the women on Sundays. Many masters players are also playing in regular club sides and enjoying the sport with friends of all ages every week.

Regional Teams

South Regional teams are also a great way to play a high level of hockey and meet up with other players from across the country. Many players from the South also represent their country and renew old friendships and on-pitch rivalries in Home Internationals, European and World Championships played all over the World.

Anyone born in, or before, 1985 is entitled to play Masters Hockey for their Region, or indeed for England. In the South we have Men's Masters Teams at ages Over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75 and Women's Masters Teams at Over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65.

In recent years we have been very successful at Regional Masters Tournaments, with many South players going on to represent England. But we feel that many potential players are unaware of the possibilities of representing the South and how our squads are selected.

  • men email team manager (below) giving date of birth, playing position, email address, phone number, club
